Why we use it, and our legal basis
| Purpose | Legal basis (NDPA s.25) |
|---|---|
| Take, deliver and support your order; warranty and returns | performing our contract with you |
| Send order emails and receipts | performing our contract |
| Keep business and tax records | legal obligation |
| Prevent fraud, fake orders and attacks on the website (including bot checks and rate limits) | our legitimate interest in a safe shop |
| Improve the website and understand what sells | our legitimate interest |
| Show you timed offers or vouchers while you browse (see below) | our legitimate interest — you can object at any time |
| Marketing emails and advertising cookies (Meta Pixel, Google Analytics) | your consent, which you can withdraw at any time |
Personal offers while you browse
While a page is open, the website tells us roughly what you are looking at and what is in your cart, so our staff can choose to send you a time-limited discount or voucher. A person always decides; nothing is decided about you automatically that affects your rights. The live information is kept in memory for about 30 minutes; we keep only the dates of your visits (for up to 400 days). To opt out, email us or clear your browser's site data.
Who we share it with
Only what each needs, under contracts that protect your data:
- Paystack — online payments
- Delivery riders and courier companies — your name, phone and address
- Hosting and IT providers — Render (servers and database), Cloudflare (website delivery, security and bot protection), Resend (order emails), Cloudinary (product photos)
- AI provider for the shopping assistant — Groq processes the questions you type to the assistant; please don't type personal details there
- Google and Meta — only if you accept advertising/analytics cookies
- Authorities — when the law requires it
We do not sell your personal data.
Transfers outside Nigeria
Some providers above store or process data outside Nigeria (for example in the United States or the European Union). We use providers with strong security and contractual safeguards, as the NDPA requires.
How long we keep it
- Orders, receipts and payment records: 6 years (tax and accounting law)
- Your account: until you ask us to close it (then orders are kept as above)
- Website analytics: up to 180 days
- Marketing consent: until you unsubscribe
- Security logs: up to 1 year
Your rights
You can ask us to: see the data we hold about you, correct it, delete it, restrict or object to how we use it, move it to another provider, and withdraw consent at any time (this doesn't affect what we did before). Email jimascomputers@yahoo.com; we reply within 30 days. You can also complain to the Nigeria Data Protection Commission (NDPC) at ndpc.gov.ng.
How we protect it
Encrypted connections (HTTPS), scrambled passwords, limited staff access by role, activity logs, automatic blocking of repeated failed logins and suspicious traffic, and regular backups. No system is perfect: if a breach is likely to put you at risk, we will tell you and the NDPC as the law requires.
Children
This shop is for adults. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 18.
Changes
We'll post any change here and update the date above. Big changes will be shown on the website.
